Research interests:
I'm a fisheries scientist with experience in fishery biology /ecology and fish population dynamics. My activity is focused on age reading/validation in fish (otolith, spine, vertebrae etc); reproductive biology in fish, crustacean and cephalopods; LFDs analysis; fish tagging; bycatch; Vulnerable Merine Ecosystem. I carried out several trawl surveys, discard and landing sampling project. In the last 20 years I conducted studies on fish behavior and physiology by telemetry tools in both captivity (aquaculture) and wild environment.

Biography:
Researcher at COISPA since 1994. He holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology. He has 25 years of experience in fisheries biology and aquaculture. He has long international experience in the field of age determination in fish and in the study of reproductive processes in cephalopod fish, crustaceans and molluscs. Since 2002, he has participated in national fisheries data collection programs established in compliance with European Regulations, coordinating scientific fishing surveys and biological sampling of commercial catches. He is responsible for the Experimental Aquaculture Laboratory (EAL) and the Energy Metabolism and Telemetry Laboratory (EMTEL). He has authored or co-authored more than 90 scientific papers.
