Chiarini

Researcher
Research interests:

Thanks to his qualifications and extensive experience abroad, Matteo specialized in fisheries biology, focusing on the population dynamics of demersal marine resources, particularly Norway lobster ( Nephrops norvegicus ) in the Adriatic Sea. His research spans biological, ethological, and environmental studies, spatial and temporal modeling, and the assessment of commercial stocks for sustainable fisheries management. Matteo continues to participate in numerous scientific surveys, focusing not only on biological aspects but also on the more technical aspects of fishing gear. Furthermore, thanks to numerous training courses and collaborations, Matteo is proficient in the use of various softwares not only for modeling marine resources and their associated dynamics, but also for developing digital strategies for effective scientific dissemination. Matteo's experience in scientific and digital innovation has allowed him to be involved in numerous national and international projects, contributing to their development and dissemination.

Thanks to the COISPA Foundation, Matteo is now considered a young Italian researcher in every respect, thus strengthening the Italian research community.

Biography:

After completing his bachelor's degree in biological sciences at the University of Ferrara, Matteo earned a master's degree in marine biology from the University Campus of Ravenna (UNIBO) in 2018. Thanks also to his experience in foreign study programs at the University of Cádiz (UCA) and the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) in Barcelona, within the same year Matteo earned an international doctorate in innovative technologies and sustainable use of Mediterranean fisheries and biological resources (FishMed-PhD), co-funded by the University of Bologna (UNIBO) and the National Research Council (CNR-IRBIM) in Ancona. During this period, Matteo completed a training period abroad at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in Auckland, New Zealand. After successfully completing his PhD in 2022, Matteo focused on the study of innovative digital strategies, joining the COISPA Foundation as a young researcher in 2023.
